Barcelona have turned their focus on signing Lautaro Martinez after Atletico Madrid refused to negotiate Julian Alvarez’s departure.
According to Sport, Martinez would be thrilled by the possibility of joining the Catalan club, where he could compete for major trophies and individual honours.
However, a transfer is reportedly almost impossible, with Inter refusing even to consider offers for their captain.
The Serie A giants are also in a strong negotiating position, with Martinez under contract until 2029.
Barcelona are looking to reinforce their attack before the end of the summer transfer window.
They have brought in Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, but signing a striker is a priority following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
The Blaugrana made Alvarez their first-choice target, but Atletico’s firm stance has forced them to consider alternatives.
Martinez is an elite centre-forward who combines physical strength with sharp movement. He is renowned for his defensive work rate, tactical intelligence and clinical finishing.
The Argentine has been a consistent performer for Inter since joining from Racing Club in 2018.
He has scored 175 goals in 376 appearances, helping his side win three Serie A titles and reach two Champions League finals.
Martinez is happy in Milan, and Inter have little reason to sell him.
