It’s time for our latest update on Chelsea’s plans to sell off a swathe of their first team this summer.
More than two months ago, the BBC’s Nizaar Kinsella reeled off a list of ten players the Blues wanted to sell from the first team as a priority this summer – he said that Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic, Armando Broja, Joao Felix, Renato Veiga, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Lesley Ugochukwu were all on the way out.

As it stands, Kepa, Petrovic, Broja, Felix and Ugochukwu are all done. Sterling, Disasi and Chilwell are getting little to no interest, and don’t feel any closer to a move than they did in May. Veiga and Chukwuemeka have had a lot of chatter, but not made any tangible progress towards an exit in the last few weeks.
Matt Law’s piece for the Telegraph yesterday actually added more players to the potential outgoing list – Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are now firmly on there after Joao Pedro and Liam Delap were added to the attack. Aaron Anselmino is available for loan, and Tyrique George could go temporarily or permanently depending on the demand out there.
So from ten it went to five, but it’s now back up to nine again.
The last few weeks of the window are always busy, but even by those standards this could be an exceptional few weeks. Law says that the Blues are looking to end the summer with sales of around £300m. With £232m already banked and some big hitters still to go, that looks more than possible if we get busy in this final stage of the window.
