Lazio are reportedly close to finalizing an accord with Viktoria Plzen for the transfer of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi.
The two clubs had recently crossed paths in the Europa League Round of 16, with the Biancocelesti edging past the Czech side by three goals to two on aggregate. Nevertheless, Durosinmi had made his presence felt, especially in the first leg when he managed to put his name on the scoresheet with a clinical header.
Reports in the Italian press claimed that Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani had taken the opportunity to launch talks for the 22-year-old bomber. So according to La Repubblica (via LazioSpace), the Biancocelesti are now closing in on an agreement with their Czech counterparts. The deal would reportedly cost the Italian capital side a transfer fee of €8-9 million.

In Durosinmi, Lazio would have a genuine understudy for Taty Castellanos who has been irreplaceable this term. The Argentine had only recently returned from an injury only to suffer a fresh blow, thus causing a major headache for Marco Baroni, especially with Tijjani Noslin, Boulaye Dia and Loum Tchaouna failing to make up for Castellanos’ goals.
The Lagos native has been developing his game at Plzen since joining the club in 2023. This season, he has contributed with five goals and two assists in 12 appearances. The striker has yet to make his debut for Nigeria as the Super Eagles’ squad is blessed with lavish attacking talents, which includes the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface.
