Lazio are reportedly increasingly optimistic about reaching a definitive agreement with Chelsea on the transfer of Cesare Casadei.
The 22-year-old is a youth product of Cesena who cemented himself as one of the most promising youngsters in Italy during his stint at Inter Milan’s Primavera team, before being poached by the Premier League giants in 2022. Casadei found success during his brief loan spell at Leicester City last season but has been struggling for playing time at Stamford Bridge over the past 12 months.
The Biancocelesti have identified the Italian as the ideal option to enhance Marco Baroni’s midfield department, thus pushing the likes of Reda Belahyane and Jacopo Fazzini down in the pecking order. However, this pursuit has turned into a soap opera filled with twists and turns.
However, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla believes that Lazio are now confident they can seal the deal after raising their offer to €12 million in addition to a 25% sell-on fee on a future resale. Chelsea are reportedly open to finalizing the operation, so it remains to be seen if the signatures will arrive in the coming days.
Moreover, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting similar details, adding that Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani enjoys an excellent rapport with Chelsea’s management which could be a key factor in the operation.
