Lazio have lost yet another key player to injury, as Taty Castellanos has reportedly hurt himself in training.
Maurizio Sarri is already operating with limited options in the middle of the park. Nicolo Rovella has been impeded by a groin issue, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru sustained a muscle injury. For his part, Matias Vecino has become a true dilemma, as he’s been repeatedly tipped to make his return to action in recent weeks, but he remains on the sidelines.

Moreover, full-backs Luca Pellegrini and Adam Marusic both picked up knocks during the win over Genoa, while Samuel Gigot has been unavailable since the start of the season. To make matters worse for Lazio, Boulaye Dia’s ankle issue returned to haunt him, forcing him to drop out of the Senegal squad. Therefore, the last thing that Lazio needed was another injury blow.
According to several sources in the Italian press, including Il Messaggero and Il Corriere dello Sport, Castellanos has become the latest Lazio player to suffer an injury. The striker felt a muscle strain during Friday’s afternoon training session, and he was nowhere to be seen on Saturday.
As the sources reveal, the Argentine will undergo medical tests in the coming hours to determine the extent of his injury, while some at Formello fear a lesion that would keep him out of action for at least three weeks.
This would be a major problem for Sarri, as Castellanos is his ultimate first choice in attack, and even his understudy, Dia, could be unavailable, leaving the manager without a proper striker.
