In their quest to bolster their attack, Lazio have reportedly enquired about Fluminense centre-forward John Kennedy.

The Biancocelesti are currently in the midst of a defensive reboot, but they also plan to address other departments, especially the attack. During his unveiling on Saturday, new Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso confirmed that recruiting a new defender and a new striker are his main priorities on the market.

The club has acquired Dutch centre-back Danilho Doekhi on a free transfer earlier this week, and they’re still trying to buy Sergi Dominguez from Dinamo Zagreb, but there hasn’t been concrete movement on the attacking front, aside from the constant links to Fiorentina striker Roberto Piccoli.

According to Sky Sport correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio have made initial contact for Kennedy, as they’re looking to understand whether a deal is feasible. The source adds that Gattuso would be pleased with the arrival of the 24-year-old Brazilian.

Kennedy is an Itauna native who began his career at Fluminense. He had loan spells at Ferroviária, as well as Mexican top-flight club Pachuca, before returning to the Rio de Janeiro club in 2025. This season, he has contributed with 14 goals and two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. His contract with the club is valid until December 2027, and Transfermarkt estimates his value at €9 million.

While Lazio have a physically imposing centre-forward in Petar Ratkov, Kenedy represents a different profile. Standing at 173 cm, the Brazilian doesn’t rely on his stature to score, but rather on his savvy movement, constant pressing, and swift runs to the box.
