Lazio have stepped up their striker search by registering interest in Roberto Piccoli and could meet Fiorentina to discuss him in the coming days. According to The Laziali, the club are weighing a deal as they look to add a centre-forward.
The Biancocelesti endured their leanest Serie A season in front of goal, scoring 41 in 38 matches. Taty Castellanos left for West Ham United in January, Petar Ratkov has yet to settle, and Boulaye Dia has struggled.
Gennaro Gattuso has made a new striker a summer priority. Talks around Lorenzo Lucca, potentially linked to a Mario Gila operation with Napoli, have not progressed.
Piccoli cost Fiorentina €25 million last summer after shining at Cagliari, but he returned eight goals and two assists in 43 outings. A change of scene could appeal.
New coach Fabio Grosso is set on a 4-3-3 and Piccoli is unlikely to move ahead of Moise Kean in the pecking order. In Rome he would be reunited with Gattuso, who handed him his senior Italy debut last October.
With Lazio restricted to a zero-net market, an immediate purchase looks highly unlikely this summer. They could try to negotiate a loan with an option or obligation to buy.
