AC Milan travel away from home and visit the Stadio Olimpico for their Serie A encounter on Sunday against Lazio.

The Rossoneri have been one of the most defensively solid teams in the league this season, conceding just 20 goals in 28 league matches while maintaining a strong away record form (ranks second in the league in away form with 32 points in 14 matches). They are the only team yet to lose away from home this season in Serie A.

Lazio vs AC Milan – Match preview and team news

  1. Date: Sunday, 15th March.
  2. Kick-off: 7:45pm BST.
  3. Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Roma.

Lazio team news

Lazio head into the clash with a few selection concerns but will still rely on several of their key players to challenge the visitors from Milan.

Midfielder Danilo Cataldi has been dealing with injury problems and will not be involved in the match.

Nicolo Rovella and Ivan Provedel are both out for the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone and shoulder injury respectively.

Alessio Romagnoli, Samuel Gigot, and Toma Basic are all doubtful for this encounter and will be assessed further.

Edoardo Motta made his club debut last time out against Sassuolo and is set to keep his place in goal as of now.

Daniel Maldini is once again set to lead the attack. He scored his first goal for the club against Sassuolo and will look to play an important part once again.

AC Milan team news

Defender Matteo Gabbia and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek remain unavailable as both players continue to recover from surgery.

Midfielder Adrien Rabiot will also miss the game through suspension after accumulating too many yellow cards in recent matches. Ardon Jadhari is expected to come into the starting XI.

In addition, striker Santiago Gimenez is considered doubtful due to an ankle injury although he has returned to training.

Rafael Leao and Cristian Pulisic are both fit and remain the top two scorers for AC Milan this season with Leao on nine goals and Pulisic on eight. Both of them are expected to start together once again.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri has also emphasised the importance of consistency during the run-in, stating that Milan must remain focused on securing Champions League qualification while continuing to chase Inter in the title race.

Form

Lazio

Currently sitting on 10th in the league table with 37 points, they have overperformed their xG by 4.4 goals.

In their last five matches across all competitions, Lazio won just one match which was their most recent encounter against Sassuolo (2-1). While they are going through an inconsistent and disappointing period, they will be motivated by their last result against AC Milan earlier in December which they won (1-0) in the Coppa Italia knockout round.

AC Milan

AC Milan arrive in Rome in strong form and with renewed confidence after their derby victory over Inter Milan (1-0).

The Rossoneri have developed a reputation for defensive resilience this season, with Allegri’s side frequently grinding out narrow victories and keeping clean sheets in important matches. After their win against Inter, they are now eight points behind league leaders Inter Milan and sit second with 60 points from 28 matches, one less than Inter.

Predicted lineups

Lazio: Motta; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Tavares; Dele-Bashiru, Patric, Taylor; Isaksen, Maldini, Zaccagni

AC Milan: Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Jashari, Estupinan; Pulisic, Leao
