League One’s Easter Monday fixtures could finally give us some answers – especially when it comes to the relegation scrap.
With Birmingham already wrapping up the title, attention now turns to who’ll grab the second automatic promotion spot – and it’s looking tight.
Wrexham were held to a draw at home by Bristol Rovers last weekend, and they’re now a point behind Wycombe with just three matches left to play. The Chairboys also have a better goal difference, so it’s still all to play for – and we won’t know who’s going up with the Blues just yet.
Over in the play-off hunt, Wrexham, Wycombe and Charlton have all booked their places, and Stockport are basically there too – just about over the line. That leaves one last spot up for grabs. There’s only six points separating sixth-placed Leyton Orient and Blackpool down in 10th, so it’s still wide open – but again, nothing will be settled today.
Now, down at the bottom is where we might see some real movement. Crawley and Cambridge could both be dragged down with already-relegated Shrewsbury by the end of the day.
Crawley host Exeter and will be keeping a close eye on results elsewhere – they need to at least match what Bristol Rovers and Burton manage in their games against Stevenage and Birmingham.
As for Cambridge, even if they lose to Leyton Orient, they’re not necessarily down – but if both Burton and Bristol Rovers win, that would seal their relegation.
