Galatasaray are ramping up their pursuit of Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte, according to Turkish outlet Aksam.
The Super Lig giants have reportedly been informed by INEOS that it would take £24.2 million to agree a deal, meaning they stand to take a direct £17.8m loss on the £42m they paid for him back in August 2024.

Galatasaray first established their interest in Ugarte back in January, but nothing materialised due to United being unwilling to facilitate a mid-season sale.
The Reds have had their sights on a summer exit for their out-of-favour midfielder, however, so they will be keen to agree terms this time around.
Otherwise, it’s thought Ugarte may have to stay put at Old Trafford for the beginning of 2026/2027 if no other suitors can be found.
It’s safe to say that the 25-year-old has endured a sizeable drop-off in form from his maiden to his sophomore campaign.
Of the 29 Premier League appearances Ugarte made last term, 22 came from the off, and he totalled 1,792 minutes of action.
In comparison, he was granted 22 appearances across the entirety of 2025/2026, with just eight being as a starter.
Under Michael Carrick, the only time he made the starting XI was when Kobbie Mainoo had sustained an injury for the visit of Leeds United.
Ugarte oversaw a particularly dismal display as United slumped to a 2-1 defeat, and it would go on to mark his final appearance of the campaign; the Uruguayan was an unused substitute for five games following that outing.
Alas, it goes without saying that a move in the coming months will suit all parties.
