Leandro Barreiro’s influence at Benfica has grown under José Mourinho, and it showed again in the 4-1 win over Moreirense. The Luxembourg midfielder is in his best spell of the season, with a record in sight.

According to A Bola, he is closing in on his best scoring return for the club from last season.

Against Moreirense he scored and provided an assist for Richard Ríos. He spoke to the media after being named player of the match.

The midfielder now has three matches to try to set a new career high.

This season he has made 47 appearances for Benfica, 28 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 13 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,761 minutes he has five goals and seven assists, and is valued at €15 million.
