Leandro Barreiro is spending the final days of his break in the United States, yet Benfica remain front and centre. The midfielder has been sharing holiday snapshots and has carried the club’s colours across the Atlantic.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Luxembourg international posted an Instagram compilation that included a picture with a friend wearing a Benfica shirt.

Benfica’s number 18 was released from Luxembourg duty because of physical issues, missing friendlies against Italy and Albania. That allows him to recover fully before Benfica begin pre-season.

The 26-year-old should be among the first group back at Seixal, at a time when several squad members will be away at World Cup 2026. That initial cohort is also expected to include academy youngsters Anísio Cabral, Daniel Banjaqui, José Neto and Gonçalo Moreira.

In 2025/26, Barreiro, valued at 18 million euros, made 50 appearances for Benfica, 31 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 13 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,949 minutes, he recorded five goals and seven assists.
