Leeds have verbally agreed a deal in principle to sell centre-back Pascal Struijk to Brighton as they move towards their first summer signing.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Brighton have an agreement in principle with Leeds to sign the 26-year-old this summer, with the fee understood to be about £20m although undisclosed. Struijk’s contract expires next year.

He has made 196 appearances since arriving from Ajax in January 2018, starting with the under-21s. It is believed Leeds offered fresh terms, but the defender wanted a new challenge, and he could have left for free next year.

Brighton sold Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham earlier this month for £52m, and Adam Webster is leaving at the end of his contract.

The Seagulls will play in Europe next season after finishing eighth, which secured Europa Conference League qualification. They also signed Georginio Rutter from Leeds in August 2024.

Leeds, preparing for their second season back in the Premier League, have agreed to sign Fulham attacker Harry Wilson on a free after his contract expired. The move is understood to be on track, with a medical and paperwork still to complete.

The club are also pursuing Germany international Julian Brandt, a free agent this summer as his Borussia Dortmund deal expires, and remain in negotiations for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.
