Leeds United have begun immediate works at Elland Road, with early demolition and clearance captured in new drone footage as the club moves ahead with its approved redevelopment to around 53,000 capacity.

A CC Overview drone video shows the landscape changing around the West Stand and North Stand areas. The project has planning permission and will see a new West Stand built before attention turns to the North Stand.

Work started almost as soon as the final home match finished, with media asked to vacate the West Stand press room by 7pm so crews could begin.

The Portakabins used as away-team dressing rooms have gone. Supplied by York firm Britcab before the first season back in the top flight under Marcelo Bielsa to meet Covid protocols, they had remained in place and were returned to Britcab’s lab last week.

The video also shows partial demolition of the ticket office and the building that housed some LUTV operations, and the floodlights have been taken down.

Club crests have been removed from the banqueting suite at the rear of the West Stand. A temporary structure behind the North Stand, expected to host corporate facilities during the works, was already going up before the season ended.
