Leeds United centre-back Jaka Bijol has been named to start for Slovenia away to Croatia on Sunday, offering another chance to extend his impressive form.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Bijol joined from Udinese last summer and finished the season strongly. He started United’s last nine matches and played every minute of seven of them.
The Slovenia international was included in head coach Bostjan Cesar’s squad for two June friendlies. He completed the full match in Thursday’s 1-1 draw at home to Cyprus.
Next up is Croatia on Sunday evening in Varazdin, with a 7.45pm kick-off at Stadion Anđelko Herjavec.
The friendly provides a final look at England’s first World Cup opponents before the Three Lions face Croatia in their group opener. Bijol has another opportunity to shine, having been selected to start again.
