Leeds United loanee Harry Gray missed Rotherham United’s 5-0 defeat at Peterborough United with a slight hamstring problem, which proved to be his manager’s final game before he was sacked.
The 17-year-old striker has been a regular since joining the Millers on loan in January for the second half of the 2025/26 season.
He has made 12 appearances and clocked more than 1,000 senior minutes for the League One relegation battlers, scoring two goals during the spell.
Rotherham confirmed on Wednesday morning that under-fire boss Hamshaw had departed with immediate effect following the heavy loss. The board noted his long-standing ties and passion for the club, but with the team six points from safety they deemed a change necessary and have begun the process to appoint a new first-team manager.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Gray will remain with the Millers to rehabilitate what is thought to be a minor injury or return to Thorp Arch.
