Leeds United are monitoring Switzerland’s meeting with Norway this evening after Neue Zürcher Zeitung reported Noah Okafor suffered a knock in the warm-up before Friday’s friendly with Germany.
Switzerland lost 4-3 to Germany, with Leeds midfielder Anton Stach playing the final 10 minutes, while Okafor stayed on the bench. The report said he had been due to feature before that late issue.
The issue is described as a knock, suggesting nothing serious, but his involvement tonight is in doubt. He only recently returned from a hamstring problem that ruled him out of five Leeds matches.
Okafor earned a first Switzerland call-up since November 2024, replacing injured Filip Ugrinić after a spell out amid a strained relationship with coach Murat Yakin over playing time and communication. A solid first season at Elland Road, four Premier League goals in 24 games, strengthened his case, and he said his World Cup dream remains alive.
Clarity is expected by 5pm when the teams are named for Norway. Leeds are not back in Premier League action for almost two weeks, but face West Ham in an FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.
Gabriel Gudmundsson also sustained a knock for Sweden in their play-off win over Ukraine, then moved to allay fears before tonight’s final against Poland. Wales are monitoring Daniel James after close to 90 minutes in their semi-final loss to Bosnia & Herzegovina on penalties, following his November hamstring tendon injury at Manchester City.
