Leeds United and Daniel Farke have a welcome fitness boost as Anton Stach returns from Germany duty with minimal minutes during the break.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 27-year-old earned a first Germany call-up in four years after a standout debut season at Leeds, joining Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for World Cup warm-ups against Switzerland and Ghana.

Stach’s involvement against Switzerland was a 10-minute cameo with the game at 3-3, Germany went on to win 4-3, with club-level teammate Noah Okafor unused for the Swiss.

In Stuttgart on Monday, the £17million summer signing stayed on the bench as Kai Havertz and Deniz Undav scored in a 2-1 victory. With relaxed friendly rules, Nagelsmann made eight substitutions but did not turn to Stach.

Stach has been virtually ever-present for Farke, missing only a handful of Premier League matches through injury. Before the break he completed 90 minutes in physically demanding games against Manchester City, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Leeds visit West Ham in an FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday, then have a full week before their Premier League return at Manchester United on Monday, April 13, with Stach back in West Yorkshire carrying only 10 minutes in his legs. It remains to be seen how strong a side Farke will pick at the London Stadium, with a potential Wembley trip weighed against the priority of survival. Victory would build momentum, although those involved could risk injury.

Regardless, another international has come back unscathed and recharged. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also not featured this week after England sent him back following his substitute outing against Uruguay.
