Leeds United host Sunderland at 7.30pm on Tuesday with seven players ruled out and two doubts. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, a key man is expected back.
The newly-promoted pair meet under the Elland Road lights for the second time this season. Their previous clash ended 1-1 at the Stadium of Light in the final game of 2025.
Both sides face quick turnarounds after weekend tests that included absences. Sunderland made the long trip to Bournemouth for a 3pm kick-off and drew 1-1. Leeds then hosted Manchester City on Saturday evening, losing 1-0 after an excellent display and suffering a couple of fresh blows.
Sunderland’s injury list is the longer after the 3-1 home defeat to Fulham. Brian Brobbey has a groin problem and is thought to be out for two to four weeks, while winger Romaine Mundle has a hamstring issue that could keep him out for a while. Jocelin Ta Bi injured an ankle and might need surgery, which could mean weeks or months out.
Defender Nordi Mukiele sustained a knee injury and is also thought to face two to four weeks out. Left back Dennis Cirkin picked up a minor issue in training before the Fulham game and remains on the comeback trail. Reinildo Mandava is still sidelined with a knee injury, with the timeline put at around 10 days depending on the final stage of his rehab.
