Leeds United are considering moving on to other targets after Southampton rejected their third bid for Shea Charles, according to Sky Sports.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants the Northern Ireland international at the Elland Road club.
However, the Saints are playing hardball and the Whites are unwilling to pay more than their most recent bid.
Leeds’ offer remains on the table should Southampton reconsider their position, but the likes of Crystal Palace and Fulham have joined them in Charles’ pursuit.
The West Yorkshire club are the only ones to have made a formal offer for the 22-year-old.
The Saints want £25 million plus add-ons for Charles, and it appears Leeds have no interest in coming close to that valuation.
Fulham are preparing a £24m offer for the Manchester City academy graduate, and Southampton could be open to doing a deal.
The Whites have signed Wales international Harry Wilson on a free after he left Fulham.
Slovenia-born defender Tarik Muharemovic has also joined from Sassuolo in a £34m deal, and more additions are on the cards.
However, a deal for Charles is increasingly looking unlikely as the Saints are waiting for the highest bidder.
Leeds have started preparations for next season, with the squad travelling for their pre-season tour of the USA today.
Farke would prefer to get all of his summer transfer targets before pre-season ends, and fans will be eager to see the players their club bring in going forward.
