Leeds United have renewed links with January target Danilo Doekhi as his Union Berlin future comes into focus.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Dutchman is ‘set to leave’ as a free agent when the season ends, with interest rising after an impressive 2025/26. Borussia Dortmund are thought to be keen, as are clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Leeds assessed Doekhi in January but talks did not progress. Any Elland Road return to the case would therefore come amid fiercer competition.

Doekhi has played every Bundesliga minute this season, scoring five goals from centre-back. The 27-year-old, six ft three ins and right-footed, can operate on the right or centrally in a back three.

Leeds are well stocked at right centre-back with Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol, while James Justin and Sebastiaan Bornauw offer cover. Uncertainty is greater on the left, where Pascal Struijk is the only natural option and will enter the final 12 months of his deal this summer. He could represent a low-risk and low-cost depth option.
