Leeds United are expected to reignite interest in Harry Wilson this summer.

Leeds failed with a deadline-day move for Wilson last year, when he had 12 months left on his Fulham deal. Fulham chose not to sell and now risk losing last season’s 10-goal, seven-assist talisman for free.

“To go from Fulham to Leeds, I mean on paper it’s not a step up,” Smith said. “Leeds have held their own in the Premier League, but who knows how they’re going to do this coming season. Obviously, Fulham were more established.”

The 29-year-old is likely to have several Premier League options higher up the table, and with more money, than Leeds.

“I think he might have other offers because he’s a very good player, Harry Wilson, who can do spectacular things. But the fact his international teammates are there doesn’t hurt at all.”
