Leeds United finish the 2025/26 Premier League at West Ham on Sunday, and some players could be bidding farewell while others hopefully stay. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, several big calls await.
Leeds will have been safe for two weeks by kick-off, so travelling fans can relax, unlike the hosts. Elland Road chiefs plan to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad, and with 49ers Enterprises a trading club, departures will happen.
Illan Meslier could go. His contract is up this summer and he has not played a competitive minute all season, a sad end after promise under Marcelo Bielsa.
Karl Darlow hopefully will not. Also out of contract, he is first-choice and in good form, so a new deal feels deserved and he would push any first-choice rival. Alex Cairns also sits in the hopefully-not camp, unused but valued in the dressing room.
Sam Byram could wave goodbye. His late cameo against Brighton last weekend felt like an Elland Road farewell, and he has said he wants more football before retiring. He at least shared in promotion and subsequent top-flight survival.
Pascal Struijk hopefully will not. Into the final year of his deal, he would bring profit after arriving for virtually nothing in 2018, but his leadership and left foot are hard to replace for sensible money.
Ao Tanaka hopefully will not, though he could go if midfield signings force sales. Signed for less than £3 million, he has impressed lately and brings on-the-ball quality others do not.
