Leeds United have released their retained list, confirming Illan Meslier’s departure after seven years and ongoing talks with Sam Byram, Alex Cairns and Karl Darlow. Loanee Facundo Buonanotte will return to Brighton & Hove Albion after 36 minutes of Premier League action.

The update followed a new four-year deal for captain Ethan Ampadu. Leeds want Darlow to stay despite interest, and he replaced Meslier for the promotion run-in, then did so again last season when Lucas Perri was dropped by Daniel Farke. According to The Athletic, Manchester United want him as their number two this summer.

Byram has long been expected to depart after playing only 86 minutes across all competitions last season. Cairns returned to support the keepers in an almost player-coach capacity.

Academy exits include Connor Douglas, Devon Brockie, Lewis Pirie and Marley Wilson. Pirie, signed from Aberdeen in summer 2023, featured sparingly for the Under 21s.

Leeds have offered 20-year-old keeper Darryl Ombang new terms after loans with Darlington and FC United of Manchester. Professional deals are on the table for Freddie Lane, Jack Morris, Jacob Render, Joshua Hamilton, Will Firth and Northern Ireland Under 19 Luke Matykiewicz. An option has been taken for a third year on 18-year-old George Kenyon, while scholars Alex Baird and Elton Simo will leave.
