Leeds United issue statement after death of former owner Ken Bates | OneFootball

Ken Bates, former Leeds United owner, died on Saturday morning aged 94.

The club said in a statement that their thoughts are with his family, friends and former colleagues at this difficult time.

Bates became owner in January 2005 and served as chairman for eight and a half years.

He stepped down in July 2013 following the sale of the club to GFH Capital.

Leeds concluded by expressing respect for Bates and saying rest in peace.
