Mick Brown, the former Manchester United chief scout, recently talked to Football Insider about Harry Wilson. He thinks the Fulham winger will probably leave Craven Cottage this summer. The 28-year-old has less than six months left on his deal.
He is looking for a new start, even though Fulham want to keep him. Brown pointed to Leeds United as a top choice. He also mentioned that Crystal Palace, West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton are keeping an eye on him.
The scout said Wilson is playing great right now. Still, the biggest Champions League clubs will likely pass on him. This gives these five Premier League teams a real shot at picking him up for free.
At 28, the Wales international is playing the best football of his life. He has scored eight goals this season. Brown calls this a purple patch that’s even better than his usual numbers. His knack for scoring from the wing is his biggest strength. Wilson has a wicked left foot.
“It looks like Wilson will be leaving Fulham,” Brown told Football Insider.
“If you look down the Premier League table, I can name at least five clubs who would be interested in signing Harry Wilson if he was available on a free.
“You’ve got the likes of Palace, Bournemouth and Everton who are all of the sort of level I would expect him to remain at, and maybe teams like West Ham and Leeds too.
“There will be others looking at him as well, but I think if he is going to leave Fulham, it’s not going to be a jump to a top club, he’ll stay around that same area.
“He can score goals and anybody who has proven they can find the net becomes well coveted.
“I think he’s having a bit of a purple season, without being disrespectful, I think he’s performing above his usual level for Fulham at the moment.
“That’s why I don’t necessarily think the top clubs are going to take a gamble on him, if he leaves Fulham it’ll be to another team in and around that level.”
Wilson is a constant threat from long range and free kicks. These skills would be huge for Leeds United. The team often struggle to create openings in the final third. His habit of cutting inside from the right to shoot adds something special. Not many mid-table teams have a player like that. Still, some people knock his defensive work. He has gotten better at it under Marco Silva, though.

Do Leeds United need him? You bet. The Whites need proven Premier League talent. This would help them stay up and stop worrying about relegation every year. Wilson has the experience and a knack for scoring out of nowhere. Leeds United often hit a wall against teams that park the bus. Plus, getting a player this good without paying a transfer fee is a smart move for the club’s bank account.
Can they win the race? That’s the tough part. Everton and Bournemouth are doing well in the top half of the table. They look more stable than Leeds right now. Leeds United are sitting in 16th place. West Ham are stuck in the relegation zone, which might knock them out of the running.
But Leeds still have to beat out the Toffees. Wilson will probably care most about getting regular game time and staying in the middle of the table. So, Leeds have to promise him a starring role in the attack. That might be enough to talk him into choosing Elland Road over Hill Dickinson Stadium or the Vitality Stadium. If Leeds United stay up this year, they have a fighting chance. Right now, Everton look like the safer bet.
