According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, the club have officially stepped back from the Brazilian midfielder, who celebrated his 28th birthday back in May. He is currently returning to Juventus after a string of highly underwhelming loan spells, first at Nottingham Forest and most recently back at Aston Villa.

On the latest Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke revealed that any sudden move from West Yorkshire for the Brazilian would now represent a massive shock. Villa quickly decided against making his temporary stay permanent. Juventus want him off their wage bill entirely, yet English clubs have gone completely cold on the idea. Daniel Farke definitely wants extra bodies in the engine room, and Luiz was discussed behind closed doors, but the hierarchy has moved on to other priority targets.

Why walking away makes perfect sense for Farke?

Two consecutive loan stints without nailing down a starting spot tell a story. It is a massive red flag. Whether it is a drop-off in fitness, tactical application, or just pure form, the numbers do not lie. Spending a chunk of the summer budget on a player whose confidence has completely cratered is a gamble Farke simply does not need to take. Not now. Not with the club aiming for a top-half finish.

Look at what works. Leeds need younger legs, hungrier characters, and genuine value for money. Luiz possesses an undeniable quality; nobody forgets his peak years under Dean Smith or Unai Emery, but talent without consistency gets you nowhere in the Premier League.

The club just secured their place in the big time. They require footballers ready to fight tooth and nail for the shirt, not luxury names trying to find themselves after eighteen months of living out of a suitcase.
