Leeds United head to Sunderland buoyed by a triple boost that has prompted a bookmakers’ rethink of their predicted final Premier League table and relegation odds.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke’s side went into Christmas six points clear after a 4-1 home win over Crystal Palace, with West Ham and Nottingham Forest aiming to close in on Saturday.

Forest, who had slipped to 16th and one point behind Leeds, lost 2-1 to Manchester City at the City Ground in the lunchtime kick-off, staying a point back and having played a game more.

Third-bottom West Ham were then beaten 1-0 by Fulham at the London Stadium, before Bournemouth’s slump continued with a 4-1 defeat at Brentford.

A win at the Stadium of Light would put Leeds level on points with 15th-placed Bournemouth, nine clear of the drop zone and four ahead of Forest. Even a draw would leave them seven clear and two in front of Forest.

Bookmakers now price Arsenal at 3-4 for the title, ahead of Manchester City 6-4, Aston Villa 18-1 and Liverpool 33-1, with Chelsea 150-1 and Manchester United 500-1. Arsenal have shortened from 8-11, Villa in from 28s and Chelsea out from 66s.
