Leeds United are expected to sanction sales this summer, with fringe players vulnerable as the board reviews Daniel Farke’s selections and minutes. According to Leeds Live, chairman Paraag Marathe has been clear that departures will happen.

Leeds raised little from exits last year as the squad was bolstered and the core kept together. The intention is again to retain the inner core, but those on the edges may move on, some by their own choice after limited action.

Wilfried Gnonto, the subject of an enquiry from Freiburg, and Joel Piroe, who drew multiple offers in January, mustered only six league starts between them. Soon-to-be free agent Sam Byram is expected to leave after scant minutes, while most loanees, aside from Harry Gray and the injured Mateo Joseph, are also under review.

The board will weigh who is surplus and could raise funds, with Farke’s game-time decisions and any mitigating factors part of the calculation. Daniel James missed stretches through injury and Lucas Perri lost the number one shirt in January.

A minutes audit places those under 900 minutes in a danger zone, including Daniel James, Wilfried Gnonto, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Joel Piroe, Sam Byram, Illan Meslier and Alex Cairns. At the other end, Ethan Ampadu logged 3,123 minutes, with several regulars close behind.
