The Whites are in need of bolstering their forward line as they aim to retain their Premier League status, while the likes of the Saints and Blades will be looking to land a Championship marksman who can help them return to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Geubbels is a familiar face to transfer talk in England, with the likes of West Brom and Norwich City previously linked with swoops.

As the summer transfer window prepares to reopen, a number of new sides have come into the frame for the Frenchman’s signature, with it bound to be an exciting race to see who can land the 23-year-old.

Southampton, Sheffield United and Leeds United to battle for Willem Geubbels

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Southampton, Sheffield United and Leeds United are three of a host of clubs interested in securing the services of St. Gallen frontman Willem Geubbels.

It is believed Leeds’ Premier League rivals Wolves are also keeping tabs on the situation, with all English clubs sending scouts to track the forward closely in recent months.

Meanwhile, German duo Union Berlin and FC Koln are also keen on luring him away, with one of the clubs expected to make a concrete approach in the coming weeks.

Geubbels is attracting plenty of interest due to his goalscoring exploits in the Swiss Super League, where he finished the season as the third-highest scorer with 14 strikes.

The 23-year-old began his career at Lyon and has further experience in France with Nantes before making the switch to Switzerland.

This term was the best goalscoring season of his career, with it seemingly only a matter of time before he earns another opportunity in one of the top European leagues.

Willem Guebbels should prefer Leeds United, Wolves moves

Willem Geubbels is certainly a target who ticks a lot of boxes, as the forward continues to make positive strides in his career.

Gifted with a unique blend of blistering pace, sharp movement and clinical finishing, Geubbels also possesses versatility in abundance, able to operate on either flank as well as in the number nine position when called upon.

For the likes of Leeds and Wolves, it would be an almighty gamble to hand him his first taste of English football when their Premier League statuses are on the line.

Leeds will be hoping he can be a reliable and regular goalscorer to help push them towards survival, while Wolves would be inclined to operate the Frenchman out on the left in an attempt to fill the gaping hole left by Matheus Cunha’s exit to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Southampton and Sheffield United could offer a route to the top-flight by introducing him to the second tier, but it appears they won’t be as desperate to recruit him given they already possess a number of effective strikers at that level.

Geubbels will now have to make a choice of whether he wants to try and make a name for himself in England, and he would certainly get his chance to impress given both Leeds and Wolves require a player of his attributes.
