Anton Stach says Daniel Farke deserves recognition for shaping a newly promoted Leeds United side that has been competitive in the Premier League.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the post-promotion brief was to avoid the struggles suffered by Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town the season before.

The table now supports keeping Farke and recruiting for athleticism as well as quality. Stach, the six ft four ins midfielder, embodies that profile, dominant in duels yet creative and a goalscorer.

On Friday he earned a standing ovation when withdrawn on 70 minutes in the win over Burnley that moved Leeds to 43 points with a goal difference of minus five. The campaign has still included a November dip of one win in seven.

That run preceded tests against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Two down at half-time at the Etihad, Farke switched to a back three and Leeds rallied in a 3-2 defeat, then beat Chelsea and drew with Liverpool before going seven unbeaten. He rejects the idea it was a turning point, but it ended their lowest spell.

Stach said unity across players and staff was decisive, arguing you find out if you are a good team in adversity, not when wins come easily.

Elland Road sang Farke’s name after Burnley and Stach added the head coach should get credit. He felt Leeds were in nearly every game, discounting the Arsenal fixtures. The job is not finished, though Leeds would be safe without playing if Arsenal beat West Ham on Sunday.
