Leeds United have lodged a planning application with Leeds City Council for a fan park at Elland Road, part of the stadium’s ongoing redevelopment.

The club said in a statement that the venue would be a flexible, multi-purpose space for around 2,000 people, able to host live screenings, with two bar and seating areas and an outdoor courtyard.

Council planners approved phase one of the wider project earlier this year. Construction on a new West Stand has started behind the existing structure, with a new North Stand planned. The redeveloped ground is projected to hold around 53,000.

Leeds have bought a warehouse and adjacent units next to the Stadium Way car park, opposite the East Stand, and plan to convert part of the building while retaining its industrial character. Designs include two levels of bars and seating, space for food and drink retailers, and a new roof to bring natural light and ventilation.

The fan park proposal aligns with the council’s Elland Road masterplan, which envisages mixed-use schemes to the west, north and east of the stadium and a mass transit link to and from the ground.

A first ever stadium liaison meeting will take place on Thursday July 23 at six pm in the Gary Speed Suite, giving the public a chance to hear about the development, provide feedback on the fan park plans and raise concerns.
