Leeds United heaped more pressure on 18th-placed Spurs with a 3-1 win over relegated Burnley under the lights on Friday, taking their tally to 43 points with four to play.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the result nudged Daniel Farke's side into 14th before Newcastle's meeting with Brighton, while Tottenham sit nine points back.
Elland Road serenaded Farke after a performance that felt emblematic, mixing a long range Stach rocket, a flowing move and a scrappy finish.
Back after two and a half weeks out and only 45 minutes at Chelsea, Stach started, set the tone and thumped in another fine strike.
Jaka Bijol dominated Zian Flemming in the air and threaded a pass into Stach for an assist.
Referee Thomas Bramall produced, by this ground's reckoning, the poorest display of the season, drawing visible frustration from Farke, who also rebuked several outfield players before the break.
Hannibal Mejbri was loudly booed, linked to his Manchester United past and a previous spitting incident towards the away end. He spent around 10 minutes down the tunnel in the first half, argued with a groundsman after stepping on a sprinkler as it came on, and complained again at half-time. On the pitch he was floored by Ethan Ampadu, caught Brenden Aaronson, was booked and went straight off at full-time.
Off camera, chairman Paraag Marathe toured the pitch after a Supporters Advisory Board meeting, Andrea Radrizzani reappeared to embrace him, while Joe Rodon counselled Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka berated himself in the warm-up.
