Leeds United are exploring a surprise move to bring Crysencio Summerville back to Elland Road, with West Ham’s relegation potentially giving them a financial edge.

SportsBoom reports that senior Leeds figures would welcome a reunion, although Daniel Farke and his staff have yet to decide whether to proceed with a formal bid.

Summerville spent four seasons at Leeds before joining West Ham for £25m in summer 2024. With Willy Gnonto set to depart, Farke is in the market for a winger and the Dutchman has emerged as a live option.

West Ham are unlikely to have completed payment for the 24-year-old under the long-term structure of the deal, which Leeds could leverage to seek a fee below £25m. The Hammers also need to raise £150m in player sales following relegation.

Despite a poor campaign for West Ham, Summerville registered seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances, preserving much of his reputation.

Roma are monitoring his situation and can offer European football next season. It remains unclear whether the attacker would choose a return to a club in the Premier League’s lower reaches when Serie A and Europe are on the table.

Farke has stated ambitions beyond survival, and re-signing Summerville would underline that intent at Elland Road. Whether 49ers Enterprises provide the backing, and whether West Ham’s finances tilt the race against Roma, both remain open questions.
