Leeds United have removed derelict changing rooms in Fullerton car park that carried a tribute mural to Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, with the families’ support. The move forms part of the Elland Road redevelopment.

The club said in a statement that work began last month with demolition of the West Stand Banqueting Suite, and that the former ticket office and LUTV studio have also been knocked down. Planning permission for a new West Stand was granted earlier this year. The club’s proposals include a second phase for a new North Stand, which will take capacity to around 53,000 when complete.

The demolition clears the way for a reduced level dig and piling over the coming months to create a corridor allowing the existing West Stand to operate at full capacity during the 2026/27 season, while the new structure is built above it.

The corridor will manage matchday access, split into routes for hospitality guests, home general admission fans and away supporters. A new hospitality facility behind the North Stand is ready to be fitted out ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season for relocated West Stand customers.

The broadcast compound has been removed from Fullerton car park and will be sited across the road from the North Stand. The old changing rooms had stood empty since the club’s training base moved to Thorp Arch.
