Leeds United have opened their fee-paying business with Tarik Muharemovic’s £34m arrival. Across the Premier League, spend has already pushed beyond £1bn.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 23-year-old centre-back completed medical tests in West Yorkshire and today signed a five-year contract after joining from Sassuolo.

His addition follows Wilson’s free transfer earlier in the window. Leeds have started strongly and are in no rush, while others have come flying out of the blocks.

Sales have helped balance the books, with Pascal Struijk and Isaac Schmidt departing for a guaranteed £20m.
