Ruben Amorim’s side had two extra days to prepare after facing Wolves on Tuesday. Daniel Farke’s team played at Liverpool on New Year’s Day. Despite that, United look likelier to be missing more.

Lukas Nmecha started at Anfield, his first start since a hamstring issue in the 3-1 win over Chelsea last month. He had come off the bench in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland, and is now a starting option again.

Manchester United will be without Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui, all away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Mbeumo is with Cameroon, Diallo with Ivory Coast, Mazraoui with Morocco.

Leeds winger Dan James remains sidelined with the hamstring tendon injury sustained in the 3-2 defeat at Manchester City. Farke has confirmed he is one of four definite absentees.

Bruno Fernandes is a doubt after a hamstring injury in the 2-1 loss at Aston Villa four days before Christmas. He has missed the last two matches against Newcastle United and Wolves, and Amorim does not expect him back for Sunday at LS11, though a late check is planned.
