Leicester City could regain Aaron Ramsey and Jannik Vestergaard for Good Friday’s visit of Preston, edging closer to a fully fit squad for the run-in.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Gary Rowett said after the goalless draw with Watford that a few injured players would return to bolster his options.
Ramsey has not played since the final match of 2025 after a recurrence of a hamstring problem, and illness last week prevented a possible trip to Vicarage Road. Vestergaard has been out since January following hernia surgery and has trained for more than a week.
Rowett tends to favour experience, so the Dane perhaps has the stronger case to start, while Ramsey would be expected to make the bench, likely replacing Dujuan Richards.
Harry Souttar has been training for a few weeks after 15 months out, though breaking into the matchday squad could be difficult given competition at centre-back. Asmir Begovic is due back in April from an ankle issue, leaving Rowett a call to make, with City keeping two clean sheets in their last three since Jakub Stolarczyk returned.
Once those four return, only Victor Kristiansen will remain sidelined, with the left-back expected to miss most, if not all, of the rest of the campaign.
City will hope those away return without issues, with 11 senior call-ups over the next couple of weeks: Jordan James, Hamza Choudhury, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Abdul Fatawu, Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka, Ben Nelson, Bade Aluko, Divine Mukasa, Louis Page and Jeremy Monga.
Academy striker Lorenz Hutchinson has received a late England Under-18s call and will join Page and Monga, while Hugo De Lisle is with England Under-17s.
