Leicester City have been linked with the potential appointment of Gareth Southgate
Gareth Southgate is believed to be admired behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur as a potential Thomas Frank replacement amid links to Leicester City.
According to Teamtalk, the former England boss is on the shortlist of potential hires at the London outfit following their decision to dismiss the Dane on Wednesday morning.
A 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United proved the final straw for the Premier League side in what has been a dismal domestic campaign so far.
Frank took charge at Spurs in the summer in place of Ange Postecoglou, but he has already been sacked, with the team sitting 16th in the top flight table.
No immediate replacement has yet been named, and it could be quite some time before a decision is made over a permanent appointment.

Tottenham are believed to be interested in Southgate following their decision to part ways with Frank.
It was reported earlier this week that the former England manager is a candidate to take over at Leicester amid their search for a new head coach, but that they face competition from Crystal Palace.
But Spurs have now also entered the race to appoint the 55-year-old, who has been out of work since the conclusion of the 2024 European Championship.
Southgate guided England to the final at the tournament held in Germany, but lost 2-1 to Spain, their second loss in a row at that stage.
It is understood that Spurs admire his calmness and man-management, and see him as a viable option to take over the first team squad.
However, it remains unknown whether he is ready to make a return to football yet, with his last club role coming with Middlesbrough in 2009.
Leicester are currently 21st in the Championship table, and suffered a humiliating defeat of their own on Tuesday night as they lost 4-3 at home to Southampton.

If Southgate is interested in a return to management, then these options from the Premier League look far more enticing at the moment.
Not only are the Foxes in the Championship, but they are struggling and their current form even suggests they might be in League One next season.
The 4-3 loss to the Saints summed it all up for the club at the moment, as they threw away a comfortable 3-0 lead to come away from the game with nothing.
It’s difficult to foresee Southgate taking charge at the King Power now, and that’s if he even wants to return to management at all.
If he does, though, a second-tier job feels like it could be somewhat beneath him.
