According to a report on Patreon, Leicester City’s next manager will have an eight-figure budget of about £10m to reshape the squad for League One, with a striker the top priority.

The report adds the funds are earmarked for quick deals as the club aim to return to the Championship at the first attempt.

After a dismal season, Leicester are preparing significant changes, with departures expected to trim the wage bill.

The Foxes have been linked with Plymouth forward Lorent Tolaj, who has drawn interest from Championship clubs including Millwall and Sheffield United. Tolaj has reached double figures again in the EFL and moved to Home Park last year after a successful spell with Port Vale.

Appointing a permanent manager remains the priority. Gary Rowett has been in charge since February on a deal to the end of the campaign.

Rowett said he sees a fantastic opportunity but that big decisions are needed and the culture must change. He said he would like the job, while stressing the club must get the decision right. Reflecting on 14 games, he spoke of frustration with results, including four defeats, and said he could be exactly what the club needs to rebuild.
