The Sunderland Echo reports that Leicester City have registered interest in Brighton winger Tommy Watson, with a loan under consideration and several EFL clubs also keen.
West Brom, West Ham United and Derby County are named as admirers, with Premier League newcomers Hull City also mentioned. Brighton are assessing his next step, and a Championship move is viewed as the likeliest route as the 20-year-old targets regular minutes in 2026/27.
Watson joined Brighton in 2025 for around £10 million after emerging from Sunderland’s academy. He made 10 appearances last season for the Seagulls and scored on debut against Oxford United in the EFL Cup.
He spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Millwall under Alex Neil, featuring 12 times, and is expected to head out again. Those close to him are keen for a club that would allow him to build rhythm, confidence and consistency over a full season.
Leicester have one natural left-sided winger in Stephy Mavididi, with Silko Thomas able to cover, and Russell Martin used striker Lorenz Hutchinson wide in the first pre-season friendly. City are yet to make a summer signing but expect arrivals, and EFL rules allow unlimited loans, with a maximum of five in an 18-man squad.
Watson has scored four goals in 46 senior appearances, indicating room for growth, though his age supports his potential. While League One could aid development, a Championship switch is considered more likely, and Martin’s work with young players could appeal.
