Leicester City ‘to sign’ Conor Chaplin as striker hunt expands | OneFootball

Leicester City are exploring early summer moves, with Conor Chaplin said to be closing in on becoming their first signing. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the former Ipswich Town forward will sign a two-year contract at the King Power Stadium.

Foxes supporters will recall Chaplin from the Ipswich side central to promotion to the Premier League in 2023. He has 48 goals and 12 assists in 141 League One games and is most effective as a shadow striker.

Plymouth Argyle’s Lorent Tolaj is also reportedly on the radar after three prolific campaigns. Three seasons ago he was in the National League with Aldershot, posting 19 goals and 11 assists to earn a move to Port Vale. He scored 14 as Vale won promotion to League One, then added 17 for Plymouth last term.

The Sheffield Star claims Davis Keillor-Dunn has emerged as a target, with Sheffield Wednesday and City keen to offer the Wrexham attacker a way out. He scored 31 goals across two seasons with Barnsley.

Midfield options include Peterborough United’s Archie Collins, seen as a fit for Russell Martin’s energetic, ball-playing style. The Peterborough Telegraph reports the 26-year-old is available on a free with Portsmouth, Wednesday, Oxford United and City in pursuit. Football League World says free agent Ryan Wintle, released by Cardiff after promotion, is also under consideration alongside Oxford, managed by Aaron Ramsey.

Meanwhile Abdul Fatawu could be Leicester’s biggest sale, potentially close to £20m after the World Cup. West Ham are linked with the Ghana winger following their relegation to the Championship, though any move is not thought to be advanced.
