Leicester City are moving towards appointing a new manager, and a League One rebuild is now the priority after consecutive relegations. Reduced revenue after the drop is likely to force exits.

The Telegraph reports that the club are in advanced talks with former Rangers boss Russell Martin, and that Abdul Fatawu, Jannik Vestergaard and Ben Nelson are expected to be sold this summer.

Martin was considered for the job last summer before Marti Cifuentes was appointed. He instead moved to Ibrox, where his tenure lasted 17 games.

Fatawu shone in the promotion campaign under Enzo Maresca, but a serious injury blunted his impact in the Premier League. Last season brought flashes of quality alongside inconsistency.

Vestergaard has drifted in and out of the side under different managers. He joined from Southampton in 2021.

Homegrown centre back Nelson made a breakthrough last term with 27 appearances, then was left out of the final five matches by Gary Rowett. The manager praised displays against Bristol City and Ipswich, but stressed the need for consistency at a pivotal stage.

At 22 and left sided, the defender is sure to have a market after two seasons in the Championship.
