Leicester City have had their appeal against a six-point deduction dismissed, meaning the Championship sanction remains in force.

The club said in a statement that an independent Commission’s recommendation had been upheld by an independent Appeal Board, and that it accepted the decision relating to its profit and sustainability position for the three-year period to June 2024.

The penalty was imposed in February after Leicester were found to have breached financial regulations, dropping them from 17th to 20th at the time.

They have won only once since, and now sit in the relegation zone with five games remaining.

The club added that, with the case concluded, the focus is on the run-in, thanking supporters and urging the required focus and intent for the remaining fixtures.
