Leicester City’s League One rivals Bradford lose Graham Alexander to Preston | OneFootball

Bradford City have lost manager Graham Alexander to Championship side Preston North End, who dismissed Paul Heckingbottom after a poor start.

Preston North End said in a statement that Alexander has been appointed as manager, returning 14 years after hanging up his boots at Deepdale in 2012. The club added he will be joined by his long-term assistant, former North Ender Chris Lucketti.

The Bantams have begun the 2026/27 campaign superbly and sit top of League One on 15 points. They have won five of their opening seven, including away victories at Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town.

Alexander joined Bradford in 2023 and led them out of League Two. Last season they reached the League One play-offs.

On his return, Alexander described it as a special feeling to take charge again, saying talks convinced him this was where he wanted to be. He reflected on an amazing time at the club as a player and said it was great to be back.

He made 410 appearances for Preston and previously worked there as Head of Youth Development.

The change may aid City as they look to rival Bradford at the top of League One. Leicester host the Bantams at King Power Stadium in November.
