Leicester City have been busy in the January transfer window and their latest departure has seen Hlín Eiríksdóttir leave on loan to Fiorentina.

The forward was unlikely to get as many minutes for the Foxes due to their incomings in the past month.

Who is Hlín Eiríksdóttir?

Hlín Eiríksdóttir is an Icelandic international who plays as a striker for Leicester City.

The 25-year-old made her way through Iceland’s top division at a young age, making her debut at just 15-years-old.

Following stints in both her home nation and Sweden, Eiríksdóttir joined the Foxes in January 2025.

The step up into the WSL has been a struggle though and Leicester’s backup striker is yet to score a goal for the club despite being in England for over a year.

It was no surprise to see Eiríksdóttir leave Leicester this week as the only real question surrounding the player was where she would end up.

It was Fiorentina who secured their new star, with Eiríksdóttir jetting off to Italy to play in Serie A Femminile.

New signings force Eiríksdóttir out

Leicester have been one of the busiest WSL teams in January.

The Foxes have made five signings so far. Emma Jansson, Sarah Mayling, Ashleigh Neville and Rachel Williams all joined early in the window.

Leicester’s biggest signing came this week though, with Alisha Lehmann joining from Como.

Lehmann would have been in direct competition with Eiríksdóttir in the Foxes attack so it wasn’t a huge shock to see her leave.

Only two other players have departed Leicester in January, with Janice Cayman joining PSV and Emilia Pelgander moving to HB Koge on loan.
