In a typically strange seeming Leicester City move, the east Midlands outfit reportedly want to make a(nother) questionable signing. I'll try not to be too pessimistic, partly because one aspect of this speculation is actually positive. If something does transpire, it may addresses one of City's main problems. I'm sure you Foxes are wondering what I'm on about, so let me explain with haste for once.
Leicester are on the look out for new additions once the January transfer window opens in a few days. It was previously claimed that the prime position for improvement was the forward area or a striker specifically. However, we are all aware that Leicester's defence requires the most attention and upgrades.
Lately it has been said that King Power recruitment staff are actually seeking a centre back. But it's never simple or easy with City, as you'll learn, or already know. Obviously LCFC cannot afford the best players financially, nor can they attract them through a secure status. But to seek an acquisition whom a club 'want rid of' as soon as possible seems odd, even for Leicester. The player in question is even labelled a "burden". Meanwhile we explain the Foxes' unusual kick-off time versus Manchester City.
For some reason, Man City remain strong favourites for this game. In reality, the Citizens have been just as poor as Leicester in recent times. The downfall of Pep Guardiola's ageing, slow squad might have been more predictable than we first imagined.
The fixture is sure to be an interesting and potentially closer one than what could have been. Although most people are wondering why the time slot is different:
"Typically in the top-flight schedule, games are held at 12:30pm, 3pm, 5:30pm or 8pm.On Sunday, the first game of the day [LCFC vs MCFC] will be this match at 2:30pm, which is half an hour earlier than four other fixtures. There is no official reason for this change, but it has likely been made to suit TV coverage on Sky Sports, avoiding a clash with West Ham vs Liverpool at 5:15pm."talkSPORT
Thankfully LCFC apparently want a new defender; that's a necessity if you ask me. Though I was totally unsurprised at how undesirable the press assessed the Foxes' interest in Chancel Mbemba:
