RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouédraogo has suffered a fresh knee setback and will miss Saturday’s top-of-the-table meeting with Bayern Munich.

“It didn’t look bad at first, just like against Bremen,” Ole Werner told Leipziger Volkszeitung on Friday.

“We didn’t take him off because of that. We had planned the substitution for the 60th minute anyway. But the next day he reported discomfort. We’re still in the diagnostic process.”

The 19-year-old had already missed four matches late last year with a knee injury and featured in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Freiburg.

The report said there is no tear in the knee, meaning surgery is not planned or necessary, but a layoff of several weeks is unavoidable.
