Lennart Karl continues to grab the headlines and that was no different on Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League when he put Bayern Munich ahead against Sporting CP.
At 17 years and 290 days, Karl became the youngest player in the history of the competition to score in three consecutive matchdays, per Opta.
Karl, who surpassed Kylian Mbappé’s record, opened his account for the season against Club Brugge. A superb goal from distance, he then scored against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates with another sensational strike, before scoring the go ahead goal against Sporting CP.
Bayern’s teenage sensation beamed after his third Champions League goal: “It’s very special for me to score in the Champions League at 17. I’m very proud of myself and the team.”
A goal with his weaker right foot, Karl added: “I’ve worked a lot on improving my right foot and today I was rewarded. It was a perfect connection with the left and then the volley with the right.”
