According to L'Équipe, Lens mayor Sylvain Robert has declared on Saturday that 22 May is a public holiday in the city, announced during celebrations of the club's first Coupe de France triumph.
Lens beat Nice 3-1 on Friday night to win the competition for the first time in their history.
Speaking on the town hall square, Robert said he would present every player with the city's medal, engraved with the 22 May date. He added that the date will remain a holiday in Lens.
The move gives 22 May special status in the city.
The victory capped a highly successful season. Lens finished runners-up to PSG in Ligue 1 after a lengthy title race and are qualified for the next league phase of the Champions League.
